YG Audition

*YG Audition Online is not open yet and there’s no given info on when it will be. This is just a future reference!

Requirements

Age Limit

Singers - You must be born on 1988 or younger.
Actors/Actresses - You must be born on 1980 or younger.
Producer (composer) – No age limit.

The reason to have an age limit is because once you become a YG trainee you will be possibly training for 3-5 years until your debut and by that time you’ll be older, lol. That and I guess he just wants to create a new group idol for the young audiences.

Needs

Singers - personal profile, photos, dancing/singing/skills video
Actors/Actresses - personal profile, skills, acting video (profile picture required)
Producer - personal profile, MP3 (wmv) file attachment of composed songs (File formats that can be played on PC)

Judges

1st - YG A&R Team
2nd - Jinu / Teddy
Third - Yang Hyun Suk (CEO)

There’s a possibility for changes/additions to the 2nd judges because older yg artists (Song Baek Kyoung, Gummy), choreographers (Yoong Joo?, Jay) and managers were seen on the judge list.

Online Audition Details

Auditions only happens 3-4 times per year. You CAN register and audition as a foreigner. You can only audition as a singer, actor/actress or producer.

For singers and actors/actresses, you will go through the following procedures:

Online Audition
Audition online and include your personal profile and picture. They will go through the three judges and successful applicants will be announced weekly on the website.

Offline Audition
Once you confirmed you’re eligble for the next step, you will go through two seperate stage auditions offline (in person) and your results will be announced there.

YG Trainee
After passing both online and offline auditions, you will become a YG trainee and go through different training that is necessary for you.

For producers (private), it’s a lot easier. Although, I think it’s offline auditions.

You will need to send your personal profile and a completed song you produced/composed. After you have been accessed, you will be contacted.

*More to come…

  3. HHN says:

but am not from korea T-T

  4. Mari says:

Will the age limit or birth year go up each year(1988/2009, 1989/2010)? I was born in 1989 but I don’t think I’ll be ready to audition until 2011 x.x By then I’ll be 21 going on 22 years old.

  5. Mari says:

Thank you so much for your reply! I will audition anyway but I’m kind
of worried they’ll toss my demo aside once they see my age. XD

  6. Teddy Bear says:

How would you do the login thingy?? It just says coming soon, and its been like that for like 2 such years….

  7. Rina says:

I kinda want to audition, but do you think that I have to be asain to become part of the YG family? I really want to audition but I really doubt they’d end up picking some white girl…. T_T

  8. wwlyna says:

    Kimmy,
    Thanks for this info…
What does it mean by Personal Profile? Does it refer to the application form?
or we can make our own resume?

    Thanks

    • Lee Kimmy says:

i don’t really know, i think it’s just info about you.. like name, birthdate, height, weight, blah blah &including your musical experiences? whatever a profile is. so it’s somewhat like a resume but in more details, i guess.

once the online auditions are open THEN i’ll be able to really answer your question.

no, personal profile does not refer to the application form. the application form is used for auditions through mail.

  9. wwlyna says:

    Kimmy,

I would also like to request if I can repost this on my blog? If its okay…
I’ll put credits to you of course…

  10. kz says:

    hey,
just wanted to make sure… we have to mail an application form AND send in a video right? & do u have an idea when this will begin?

  11. doyouwatchtv says:

SO WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT FOREIGNERS ?
    1. CAN WE TRY OUT ?
    2. IS THERE A SPECIAL FORM FOR US ?
    3. ANYTHING ELSE FOREIGNERS NEED TO KNOW ?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

of course foreigners can try out, that’s the reason why i mentioned it.

there’s no special form, although there is a translated application form that you can use to help you fill in the actual form. &then there’s this… :)

if there’s anything else foreigners need to know, i’ll add it into the post. but because i’m not 100% sure i can’t do that now.

  12. Chana says:

    When is the audition over?
    I’m really late on this aren’t I?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

if you didn’t actually read the post… i already said it’s not open. &no, you’re not late. the online yg auditions never started yet. however, you can audition through mail using the application form.

  13. jena says:

can we mail our audition forms and songs to the yg company or we have to wait for the on-line audtions?

  14. Jena says:

so we can mail our audition cd any time we want?

  15. ubeenyah says:

    hello :D
i hope you’re not tired of answering questions
    ahahahaha

i just heard that YG has moved their office
if anyone know their new address can you guys please help?
    Thanks in advance ^^
    Bless ya

  16. Tina says:

hey there got a question..?? so we got to go pass the juder and all the stage and 3-4 years practice ??

    • Lee Kimmy says:

i don’t really understand what you’re trying to ask… but yes, you have to go through judges first and then be accepted as a yg trainee for an amount of time until you’re ready to debut.

  17. Tina says:

about YG, JYP, and SM audition are they all alike onli pass the judges and stage first or diffenert..???

    • Lee Kimmy says:

i’m pretty sure their systems work differently. but it’s auditions, so it all goes the same way. i don’t bother with JYP or SM, so i don’t know anything about them.

  18. Amy says:

wahhh wait i thought there’s no age limit? T^T where’d you hear thatfrom?

also, do you have to know korean in order to audition?

thanks for the heads up!!! :)

  19. DanbyChoi says:

    Hey!
Thanks a LOT for this help. Just some questions about you:

Do you work in YG Entertainment?
    Are you korean?
Do you live in Korea? (in that case: Where’s your english from?)

    - I’m a korean living and born in Norway. I want to go to the audition for YG, but I’m not sure what to do if I go through the online audition…
… Yes, I’ll go to the offline audition in Korea, if so – but IF I go further from there – as a trainee, I dunno what to do. I’m 16 years old – mhm, not done with school. And if it’s allowed to do school while I am a trainee?

    But that’s dreams.

Just wonder if you work with marketing or something for YG in the bottom. :-)

    • Lee Kimmy says:

yes, i work in yg entertainment. as a fan ^^ haha, jk. no, i don’t work for them.

i’m korean and i just recently moved to korea from canada, where i was born. that’s how i know my english.

auditioning online is going to be simple, i believe. all you do is upload a video :P.

of course, you can still go to school if you’re a trainee. there are idol singers in korea that still go to school!

“a dream will only be a dream… until you wake up and start moving towards it!!” – run dmc

if you really want it, you got to work for it. i believe in you! :D

  20. DanbyChoi says:

    yeah – one more:

do we have to send the “application form” before the registration online?

Can’t we do it on the website when it’s up going? or send it as an e-mail?

“How to Upload” film is understood, but yg-auditon.com is not on the web yet. Is the application form something I have to fill in before that? Or before I register on yg-audtion.com?

I did not understand that. Sorry, I hope you’ll answer!

    Danby–

    • Lee Kimmy says:

the application form is mailing audition… you can send in your audition cd/tape anytime.

the online yg audition is different since it’s.. well, online. you’ll fill your info on the site instead and not the application form.

i’ve mentioned already that the yg audition site is not open. and this is just a future reference (for the ‘How To Upload’ part xD).

  21. Putri says:

    Hello :D
I heard that YG has new office ..
Is the address was right ?
    Thanks before ..

  22. Mia says:

#1 thank you so much, this is the most detailed site i’ve been to yet , please keep it up!=P

#2 soooo i can MAIL my audition stuff whenever i want? but the audition site is just for convenience in the future? ( i just wanted to make sure ^^)

#3 i’ve heard rumors that you have to get “parental agreements” for certain ages is that true?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

wow, thanks! ^^ appreciate that a lot <3

yes, you can mail your auditions whenever you want. the site is just a new method for auditioning, i guess. not sure if it should be called a convenience, haha :P.

&most likely. for those who are underaged and gets a sign contract must have their parents' consent.

  23. chocosmile1208 says:

wow thanks for the information!!!! :D i really appreciate it :)

i have a question; it says that foreigners can audition, so does that mean we don’t have to be able to speak korean to audition?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

nope. there are judges that speak fluent english. but you’ll have to start taking korean classes to make it in the kpop world :P.

      • chocosmile1208 says:

        T^T ah…
how much korean do we have to know?
because you know how 2ne1 takes english classes? can it be vice versa for us?

  24. Tina says:

uh, i’ve a question if we want to do a audition for yg but we are to far away like in Alaska .?? what do we do?? we can’t make a audition for yg right?? hope you can answer back thankx
    -tina-

  25. Tina says:

uh, i’ve a question if we want to do a audition for yg but we are to far away like in Alaska .?? what do we do??
we can’t make a audition for yg right??
hope you can answer back thankx
    -tina-

  26. andrea says:

do yg care about the person’s weight and height?

  27. Tina says:

so if they call the 2nd round we have to buy ticket to see the judges ??

  28. Tina says:

uh, is there sub-thing like if you past the judges and pass everything and you wanted to join a band that is already passed ??( like be the new memeber in a group that is already been singing ?)

    • Lee Kimmy says:

unless yg pulled a jyp move (which is not likely), then yes. but no. it’s not something that happens often.

      there’s no subs :P.

    • Kage Kazumi says:

O.K. I know that you have to audition against other trainees to get into a group, and, you do not get to choose what group you get to be in.

  29. popothao says:

so do you know when the auditions are because i dont wan to miss it

  30. Tina says:

uh, can we still be a singer if we did a dancing audition for yg ??

    • Lee Kimmy says:

you can dance, of course. but if you want to become a singer, you should audition as a singer first? dancing is an extra. more for other skills.

the more talent you have, the more chance of impressing yg.

  31. Janika says:

Kimmy, I just want to ask if what is the next step after you finished the application letter for YG?. Can you send a video too with the letter through mail?I mean, it’s like music video? Because,I’m from the Philippines (Davao City). I want to audition in YG.Does the YG will response? How long will it takes? :) Thank you. I Hope you will response.

    • Lee Kimmy says:

there’s not really any next step after you send in your auditions but wait… :P

music video? a simple and clear video of you singing/dancing/acting/whatever is all they need. you include it with the application form.

yg will only respond if he finds potential in you, in other words accept you.

i’m not sure how long it will take, depends on yg.

  32. Celine says:

OMG Thanks so much for the info. The best site I’ve went to that gives the most detailed info. Helps alot! I was almost giving up hope on having to audition for SM, but now I know that its actually possible to get into YG haha.

Anyways, you dont have to know how to Speak Korean, but does that mean you dont actually HAVE to be Korean either? Like you dont have to be Korean by blood do you? Can you be a different ethnicity/nationality or do you have to be Korean?

  33. jena` says:

did they change the address? if you have the new address please see me an email

  34. Tina says:

uh, do yg have any audition around alaska or near it?? !!! i think jyp doees but does gy??

    • Lee Kimmy says:

yg doesn’t do live auditions. not yet anyways. i don’t think he’s planning to do any global auditions either.

it’s just mailing auditions right now. soon or later, online auditions will be open.

  35. Jessica says:

Uhm, sorry if this is a dumb question but..

If you get through the online audition, and then where do you go for the offline audition?

  36. poptempo YG says:

    I’m was Thai people
    I name ‘POP’ >> F
in the future I wanted to YG trainee ; —
i born in 1994 [the same minzy]
    i love for the music

    Thank you for the opportunity.

  37. danica javier says:

    hey ;)
    what’z up?
who wants to join me in the audition?? lol

  38. Joan says:

Can I print the application form or let’s say I will answer the application form and then print it. I am a foreigner and I would like to audition through mail, can that be possible and If I audition I should sing Gayo song to audition?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

you should print the form first.

yes, it’s possible to audition as foreigner (i’ve already mentioned it).

you should sing a song that shows your talent at it’s best, it doesn’t have to be a popular song.

      • Joan says:

If I pass the audition and became a trainee, is YG will pay my expenses like ait ticket, VISA and my living expenses? Thank you for answering my questions. ^.^

      • Joan says:

I’d also want to ask if is there a need that I will fill up the application form in english or in Korean?????

      • Joan says:

        Thanks for the informations XD

  39. lOli says:

if u get in YG’s first audition, then can u not pass the second one? What if you’re only 11? Does YG pay for your living expenses also?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

i don’t really understand your first question and it doesn’t matter how young you are, as long as you’re within the age limit. yes, yg pays for living expenses.

  40. ItsAsianJayjay says:

Thank you very much for the information. Its all really helpful!
But I had one question, if/when I send in my audition, should I burn it onto a DVD, so they see me singing? Or just an audio CD?

In some cases I heard that a DVD would not work because of the different coding.. But I’m not entirely sure. Thank you in advanced :)

    • Lee Kimmy says:

      i’m glad i can help! :D

you can send both video and/or audio.

i’m not too sure about the dvd region thinger either… maybe you should look for the right type of disk you can burn onto? o_o idk, sorry ><

  41. popothao says:

ummm for the filling out out of the audition do you know if we have to fill it out in korean too

  42. lOli says:

Do you have to fill out the form in korean or can we just fill it out in english?

  43. Tina says:

ok..thankx popo for information about the audition..!! i hope i can try it out..!! but what happen if we are so far away?

    • popo says:

i didnt write this blog or information post, sorry i just comment alot …….my bad……i didnt mean to T__T……i think Lee Kimmy wrote it because it is her website SORRY LEE KIMMY

  44. catcat says:

can i ask how long the demos have to be or how many songs do we sing…
Also just wanna make sure, is the addreess you’ve given the address for auditions??
can u recommend a program for recording our singing please???

    • Lee Kimmy says:

3 songs should do it. 2 korean songs and 1 english? and if you’re dancing, you should include that too.

yes, the address i’ve given is the address for auditions :). i just changed it to the new one, btw!

you should videotape it. if you want to just send an audio file… hmmm, maybe get a good mic? i’m not so sure about what program, sorry ><

  45. unknown says:

chao’ when do you think the audition will start … uhm do you have to be korean?…

  46. kimmi says:

so if foreigners are aloud to audition does that mean that black people can?
i heard that if your skin in dark you will need to have your skin whiten is that true?

i want to audition but im worried that my mum wont let me cause i live in england and 14 years old,she dosent know the compeny as well as me and i would lovvvvvvvvvvvvve to be a YG Trainee.

what happens when you cant pay for your own ticket cause you dont have the money but you really want to go?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

foreigners includes everybody of every race. &no, you don’t have to have your skin whiten… o_o

i’m unsure about the tickets being provided. but it’s most likely that you have to buy your own plane ticket because there are a bunch of other foreigners auditioning too. unless yg is really considering you, he’ll just might fly you over himself ^^.

  47. :P says:

how long does the demo tape has to be?

  48. josie_k says:

    so sad….

    I’m a foreigner.
I want to be a singers.

“Singers – You must be born on 1988 or younger.”

But i born in 1987….T^T…1 year!!!!!!

  49. poptempo YG says:

You think it be good if i went to stay in Korea ,and thereafter i would
going to YG for some position [ ? ]

ps . my status is go in yg ent.

  50. Mari says:

Hi, I just found out there is NO age limit! I emailed Yg- audition casting team
and they told me I can still audition (Even though I am 21 going on 22
in Korean age). :) I actually emailed them yesterday and got a reply
this morning. Here’s their email address audition@ygmail.net

    Go get em! *o*

  51. poptempo YG says:

    thank you mari :))

umm m. you have some VDO for youtube yet ?
i want to see plaese ~

  52. crismarie says:

    thans for the info…

well, i was born in 1990..i’m planning to audition in 2011 but i’m having second thoughts because its hard to sacrifice my school right now. i’m not trying to brag but i’m a civil engineering student so its really hard to choose what i’m going to do…can anyone help me?

if nothing bad happens with my grades..i’ll possibly graduate in 2012..

  53. crismarie says:

    kimmy you rock!

    continue helping us aspiring auditioners..

are you planning to audition too?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

      thank you ^^.

maybe. i’ve definitely thought about it many times, haha. i’m also focusing on school right now.

you should really just consider yg audition as a back up. unless you’re only goal in life is to really become an entertainer. you have to commit to it for the rest of your life! >< plus, training for so long and all the hardships that comes with it… but then again, it could be worth it:).

you don't have to sacrifice your school to audition though. audition at your own time and if you're called, you have the choice to take the chance! you can also continue your school even if you become a yg trainee.

personally, i would pick being a yg trainee over school anyday XD. if i can dance forever infront of the mirror, i would. if i can hang out in recording studios all day, i would. take free professional lessons and learn from the greatest? i would! but that's just me :).

  54. Lee Kimmy says:

there’s a new mailing address, everybody!
please disregard the old one :D

  55. poptempo YG says:

when i ready some dance i will send the message
to YG ENT’. ‘Courage’ i have it all =))

but i have a occasion it alittle …

  56. KevinKim says:

    When are the deadlines?
    can i audition for rapping?
if u pass the first audition does yg pay for your plane ticket to come audition in korea?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

can you at least read the first sentence of the post?
of course you can audition for rapping.
&i highly doubt it, unless he’s really considering you.

      • KevinKim says:

        haha my bad
and when do you think auditions will open?
because they had a open audition like yesterday and today which i couldnt go to

      • Lee Kimmy says:

i really have no clue… online auditions has been closed for years now. but i hope they open by next year. this year is going to be busy for him.

they had open auditions yesterday and today? really? o_O where’d you hear that from?

      • crismarie says:

        what is the new address?

how about the application forms and other requirements?
        are there any changes?

        btw thanks for the advice…

      • Lee Kimmy says:

actually read the whole post before asking lol
the new address, application forms, requirements are there.

      • kevin says:

Do you know if we should fill the application in korean or english? the demo is like a insturmental with lyrics we made and the video is us singing along with a song made by a diffrent artist right

      • kevin says:

Do you know if we should fill the application in korean or english? is the demo like a insturmental with lyrics? and is the video us singing along with a song made by a artist?*rephrased question*

      • Lee Kimmy says:

you should fill it in korean but obviously if you don’t know, english is better off.

i don’t understand your demo question. do you mean.. you have to sing with an instrumental song? you don’t have to but it’s probably preffered lol.

the video of you singing doesn’t have to be a cover. it could be your own.

  57. KevinKim says:

yep they had open auditions in ga
eden entertain opened it on behalf of yg entertainment sm entertainment and jungle ent. it was on edens website and it was on alkpop or w.e its called but yeah it was held in ga

    • Lee Kimmy says:

i heard it was a scam. i checked it out when you told me and what threw me off was that you had to pay. for auditions, you should NEVER have to pay. and entertainment companies wouldn’t collaborate with others to find singers, that just doesn’t make sense. and i think it was either jk or tablo said that it’s fake and then it goes down from there lol. so yeah, basically everyone got scammed.

  58. catcat says:

  69. Kiwi says:

    Hi Kimmy,
I have a question. You said it’s possible to be a YG trainee and continue school work. From other entertainments like JYP, the traniees go to school in Korea but I got to school in the states.

“IF” I become a YG trainee would I be going to school in Korea and not where I actually go to school?

    Thanks in advance ! :)
    -Kiwi

    • Lee Kimmy says:

your choice? there have been people who studied abroad, but i don’t know how that works. i think it’s a lot more convenient if you transferred to korea though. you’ll have to discuss that with yg :P.

      • Kage Kazumi says:

There is an online school that I’m in, Connections Academy, and you are totally flexible with it, and you can move anywhere with it. Also, it has it’s own server email, so you can keep in contact with your parents really easily (they have to check off that your done at the end of the day anyway) : )

  70. woody says:

    • Lee Kimmy says:

they will still accept you regardless of age or anything else for that matter. the age limits are more like guidelines.

&no, you cannot audition via email.

  73. jcel says:

  76. Shay says:

Does the form have to be filled out in Korean?

  77. Shay says:

The in-person auditions, are they in Korea? And do we have to be able to speak Korean?

    • Lee Kimmy says:

yes, they’re in korea. you should know at least the basics to survive in korea, first of all lol. but it’s pretty much safe since some of the judges know english.

  78. Kristin says:

If you pass the online auditio and they want you to do offline but your living oversea. Does that mean you have to pay for your own expence?

  79. Alexandra says:

hi lee kimmy i’m sorry if i’ll bother you with my tons of questions

i have a nice voice but i’m not a good dancer is it a point against me?

i’m not korean is it ok if i’ll just sing an english song and also the song that i wanted to sing which is korean don’t have the instrumentals?

can i also audition for acting?

thank you for your time reading this.. i hope i can get your reply as soon as possible.

how long does the audition tape have to be and how many songs do we have to sing? i heard that if ur not korean, one korean song is highly recommended but im not too sure. also, is the audition address the same one as before or different?
lastly, i heard that you can also be trained in that U.S…is that true? sorry if i asked too much questions but it would be very helpfull if u can answer then. Thanx!

  83. :P says:

hrmmm…i posted up my comment but i cant see it. but anyways, i have a few questions.

    1. How long does the audition tape have to be? Can it just be for about 1 minute?

    2. I heard that you can also be trained in the U.S. and then be sent to korea when they think your ready. Is that true?

    3. How many songs can we sing? If they accept me, do we have to sing another song that is different from our auditon tape?

Srry if i asked to much but i hope u can answer them for me. It would be very helpful. Thank you!

  84. :P says:

woops! nvm! aha! i didnt my other comment i posted up!

  85. susie says:

YG moved to a new building… So doesn’t that mean the address to send the auditions in to has changed?

  86. Kasha says:

I feel like i am ready although i should say i am not. I feel confident about it, even though I feel like i should say I am not. I am going for it.

    THANKS!

  87. crismarie says:

can you somehow answer :P question? please….

  88. catcat says:

do we have to sing the whole song for our demo or can we sing half a song. And can we sing acapella?

  89. Kevin says:

Do you “have” to record yourself dancing too?

  90. deeler says:

i sent the mail audition on the march 8th and it got there around march 18th… if i havent heard anything until april 24th, does that mean i failed? imma definitely try again once the site is opened.

  91. catcat says:

hey deeler can i ask how many songs u did for ur demo and where u got ur instrumentals from?? thanks.!!!!

    • deeler says:

Well I’m not sure if I did it right but I just covered one song. I got my instrumental on Youtube and turned it up for the background. After I recorded it, I burned it onto a DVD CD. I made the audio CD by using a program to extract the sound from the video and created a music file out of it.

If you guys (Catcat and Mariz) are Korean, read or find someone to translate this: 우편오디션의 경우 기본 가요1곡, 팝송 1곡, 댄스등으로 되어있으며. After I sent my audition, I emailed YG ENT. asking them how many songs I needed to record and they responded saying that. I’m still not sure what it exactly means. So yeah. I hope that helped! Good luck. Maybe we’ll meet someday if we make it.. haha most likely not.

      • Joan says:

(Post an audition for a basic go, pop a dance and is supposed to be) translation to this: 우편오디션의 경우 기본 가요1곡, 팝송 1곡, 댄스등으로 되어있으며.

      • Kevin says:

it means 1recent song like from 2010, 1 pop song and a dance routine

  92. mariz says:

hi deeler, can you please catcat’s question…?

    we have the same question…

  93. mariz says:

hi deeler, can you please answer catcat’s question…?

    we have the same question…

  94. Mari says:

@Deeler: I think it says one pop, dance, and ballad song.. or something like that? O.O So three all together? I would get someone that is truly fluent to check it out for sure. I know you didn’t ask me to answer the question but I thought I could give it a shot XD

    • deeler says:

Hahaha thanks for the try.. i got up to pop and dance, but i didn’t get ballad lol. You might be right though. I’m guessing it means all three or either one of the three. That’s what I don’t get.

If you could type in Korean (even just a bit), I suggest you shoot YG ENT with an email with simple questions cus u could always translate the responses later. They should respond within one day. Their email regarding auditions is “audition@ygmail.net”. Not sure if you know this already but yeah.. just incase ;]

  95. catcat says:

thanks deeler for d reply. lol hope to see you too at yg IF I ever make it lol..
    if you do tell us!!!

  96. mariz says:

    hello,
    thanks deeler for the reply…
uhm…i just want to ask what are your ages here?(to all posters)
    i just wanna know…hehe
i can do dance and pop but i don’t think i can pull off the ballad…

  97. Shelley says:

You’re awesome for taking the time to translate everything! Not sure if I have questions yet, but I just wanted to write to say thank you for this! :)

  98. Chutima says:

    hi^^
i’m thai but live in switzerland
I have a question. I really want to go to the audition but i can’t…beacause it’s too far T_T
do you have any idea what i can do?? will there be an europe audition??

    • deeler says:

you have to audition through mail or when the site opens. they dont have anything like europe or america auditions…

    • Kevin says:

i doubt they have auditions in Europe they don’t even have them in America like Deeler said you have to mail it in and when you pass that part of the audition you go to Korea and do a audition infront of them

  99. DK says:

half the people on here cant even speak korean and they want to audition.. it doesnt make any sense to audition if u cant speak the countrys language. half of you just want to join because u want to see idols.. im not trying to be rude but your really making it difficult for people who really have talent. Not hard on those people but making it more time consuming. seriously think about it you guys cant even fill out the audition form in korean you guys cant type yg a simple message in korean to ask a question and i just dont see the point of a wannabe korean people trying to go into kpop industry.. so im just saying if you wanna try you cant try but you high chance is you wont make it there are many people “in” Korea auditioning and those people arnt making it what do you think is the chance of you guys auditioning when you cant even sing in korean or have a simple conversation in that language..

    • mariz says:

well as for me, i’m willing to learn korean. i’m planning to audition in 2011 so i’m gonna have a lot of time to pratice and learn. btw thanks for the reality check.
i’m going to audition and dream of becoming an artist there not only because i want to see my favorite idol, it’s given, but i really want to be part of this amazing family. i’m a filipino, here in the philippines, looks matter most. if you want to be an artist you have to be really, really great already. what i love about in kpop is they give people chance and hope. artist undergo training unlike here. this audition gives every person here a hope for a better future. it gives as reason to wake every single day because we believe that today or tomorrow is one day closer to our dream. i only have one life and i’m gonna take any and every chance that’s given to me to make my dreams come true no matter hard or impossible it may be. i may not be a korean. i may not know korean now but i have the faith and passion that drives me to carry on. to all the people here who believe that they can be the best that they can be, go for it! it doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from or what language you know. study, learn and have faith!
just don’t forget who you really are when you make it.
this is a 1 in a million shot, but hey, there’s no harm in trying guys.

to you DK, i like your initials hehe, i just want to say thank you for showing us the reality but everything in this world is learned, is studied and is prayed. nothing is impossible when you believe.
i’m gonna learn different languages not only korean. i’m sure all of the people here are going to study korean too, thanks to you.

      go3x guys!

i pray 5-10 people here will make it…

      • DK says:

once again im really not trying to be mean if you have the passion go for it no harm done to me i just really need to tell everyone that this is not a joke. and u have to be good looking to become a artist in korea too as you can see there isnt many artist tht looks ugly. but the very very important thing is the passion and love for music not love to see any idols if you know what i mean..

but anyways good luck to you wish for the best and if any of the ppl on here make it which i would be suprised if 1 person makes it on here because it looks really hard ive been watching audition tapes and there are alot of talented ppl but anyways if 1 lucky person makes if good luck through ur trainee years and fighting to everyone pce~

    • gooddarkangel says:

I’m a white girl with a big dream of training in YG Entertainment but I’m not sure what programs to use to make a demo or if I’ll even make it….becoming somone in the music buisness has always been my dream but I have no singing expirence, I can’t dance, and I don’t know enough Korean to hold a conversation. I have been teaching myself korean for the last year cause where I live you can’t learn Korean and even then I just taught myself how to say words not how to write them but I’m still going to fight for what I have been dreaming. I may be a fan of kpop but I am trying out for YG because I believe they will give me more of a fair chance then the companies in America. I am willing to give it my all to become a singer, even if it’s stupid to try for a company that isn’t even english. I learn fast and try my hardest so I feel, even if I don’t make it that I am worthy to try out for YG. There are people like me all over and then there are people like the ones you were talking about. Even if you were giving a reality check you should try to support people because they are giving their all.

  100. deeler says:

I agree with DK here about language.. but then again, if you devote 2-4 years practicing, then i believe it is enough; however KOREAN IS NOT EASY so dont live in a fantasy thinking that the whole audition process is. I know how to converse in Korean for the most part so after a couple of years in Korea, I should be well. But yes, the YG audition judges require every submitter to have a certain amount of ability in Korean. And also, I am glad DK brought up the wannabes. It pisses me off that so many people are just auditioning to meet/become idols themselves. Of course, that is definitely everyone’s dream, but please, audition if you know what you’re getting yourself into.. It will be physically and mentally grueling and won’t even have much time to socialize with your favorite idols. But if you’re serious about the music and work you will have to face, and if you actually have musical capabilities, then by all means, go for it and I will cheer for you guys. Out of all of you here, I believe only about 4% will really be talented and dedicated to the whole thing and have a chance of finding success there. Those are the brutal facts.. sorry.

BY THE WAY… PLEASE READ THIS. YG ENTERTAINMENT REQUIRES YOU TO SING ONE KOREAN POP SONG (that’s what 가요 is), ONE REGULAR POP SONG (any popular song), and ONE TALENT (beatbox, piano, rap, dance, etc.)

So, if you guys don’t know Korean, then I’m sorry. And also, they would like you guys to fill out the form in Korean as well (even though the grammar may be off). SO yes, Korean is very important. And if you make it into the next round, they DO NOT provide the ticket. So again, people, please come back to reality and know that this is not easy.

    • DK says:

once again im not trying to be rude or anything really
it just really makes me mad that they want to be an idol to meet an idol.. i want to be an idol to surpass and be better then the idols all ready performing please if your dream is to become an idol be serious they will delete/throw away your audition tape by looking at the first 3 seconds of it. please dnt try to audition if your not even serious about this.btw korean is a very hard language to learn it takes a lot of time to get rid of the accent half of korean ppl cant speak korean. Also if you become a trainee its going to be hard. i had a friend who made it to being a trainee and he dropped out because it was too much he could take. being a trainee is hard so just letting you know.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IM REALLY NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN~

      btw deeler are you auditioning

      • crismarie says:

        now i get it…
        my bad…
        i really do have a bad reasoning…
        you’re right…

  102. Song says:

Hello, my question is.. your information states that the required ages are 1988 or younger. I’ve looked into the YG form and it says that the ages are 11- 19. which one is telling the truth? Can you let me know.. thanks!

  103. popothao says:

well the actual audition page says 12- 19

  104. Mari says:

Why don’t you guys email them yourselves and ask them the age requirement? I emailed them in March and I (Being 21 in korean age) was told that there is no age limit. Here is the audition email address- audition@ygmail.net

Please give Kimmy a break, I understand being excited and wanting to know more but some of these answer can only be answered by the casting team. It’s best to ask them.

Please don’t take my comment as being rude.
I just feel bad that Kimmy
has to answer all these question some of which
    she doesn’t know.

    I hope I didn’t insult anyone
and to Kimmy thanks for posting this up for us to see!
    I really appreciate it! ^o^
    Thank you!

    • DK says:

we arnt really asking kimmy we are just posting things for her or others to answer its sorta what this page is for

  105. Mari says:

@Dk- I understand but I’m trying to let people know they would have more luck emailing the YG audition casters. Especially if they want to know age requirements because most people don’t really know answers to some of these question (Unless they received information from YG site or audition casters). That’s all I’m saying, Kimmy and some others may not be able to answer some of the question coming in. I gave an alternative (The email) so people could ask for themselves.. That’s all

  106. SAM says:

Can i ask something for singing, do you need to sing, rap, and dance in one or two video? It is really SINGING,RAP, and DANCING?? :]

  107. popothao says:

oops i meant 6/22 for LA AND NY but in SEOUl it is 7/08

  109. crismarie says:

do you think someone will make it…?
its so ironic to know that the 1st time they did open auditions, no one made it…

this time i think they’re probably looking for male trainees cuz they’re going to create next big bang…

since their age limit is 11-19, i’m still on that zone but i’m far from their audition venues and i’m not ready yet…

i’m just gonna try out next year through mail audition..

to those who will audition good luck!

  110. crismarie says:

oh someone will really make it…i smell great talents…

  111. sara says:

can you help me with the YG audition am so lost i wanted to sign so i could download my video but it’s hard pleas i need help

  112. Jay. says:

I want to audition… I’m in the age limit (btw I am 16y-o) and I’m Korean and can speak bit of it. I live in Australia.
But im most worried that i will get teased that i can’t speak my own language properly….

  113. crismarie says:

    @SAM
well i was wrong that i’m still in the zone but i read in the yg audition official twitter that if you were born not far from 1991 you can still try out.

btw i’m 1990er. how about you?

  114. Atlanta pahulu says:

i was wondering how you audition i you live in another country other that america or korea?

    • crismarie says:

      i think it’s already late…
the 1st round of audition is already over…

right now i still don’t know if they’re going to have a mail auditions months after the open auditions..
if there is you can try out when that time comes

  115. catcat says:

if we dont live in LA or NY then do we apply for the seoul audition???

    • DK says:

no if your doing online audition you put the location of which you can go to so you can choose from New york, LA,Seoul doesnt matter as long as you can go there if you make the first round of the audition

      • catcat says:

        thanks DK

      • catcat says:

on yg’s audition site , for the singer application it allows you to upload video and audio. does that mean we upload both or either ps i’m only auditioning for singing

  116. catcat says:

lol i mean for the online audition

  117. susan says:

    • DK says:

um i guess you would just put american. if your auditioning then it might affect it it might not depending on if your talented.

  118. susan says:

Haha its me again! I was just wondering can you still apply through the mail instead of online because i am truly confused with this online stuff, as the screenshots you put on dont look a bit like the site at all whatsoever! So i really dont know what to do!

  129. Ashley says:

Hey, had a question. If we decide to mail in our audition instead of do the online one, will we have to go to Korea for round 2 if we make it? I live in NY so if there’s auditions for people who mail it in, can I just go to their NY office? or do I have to go to their main hq in korea?

    • crismarie says:

      let me just add this…
since NY is included..2nd round is on 07.10.2010 @ Hilton Manhattan East Hotel

      • lianne says:

Ive got the form printed out and everything, I read from a site it’s okay if you dont sing a korean song, but I read from another site that you have to sing at least one korean song. so which is which? :/ And also they said filling in the form in english is fine, but then another website contradicts. GAH, help.

  133. catcat says:

actually i just want to ask
where and when the audition will be
    if i don’t know when,how can i’ll be a singer?

  151. marizbk15 says:

just so you know guys…its really hard to enter yg entertainment…
if you want to become a kpop artist or idol, you should just audition in jyp then when you get it in…do your best to stay because as far as i know every month they cut a lot of trainees…
when you become a trainee…work hard…develop your skills…improve your strengths and develop your weaknesses…
when you already know your ready try to go to YG Entertainment agency…
nag your way in if you really want it badly…
if there’s an open audition for yg entertainment, then you can audition already but with much more to offer…
remember CL is from jyp and she continuously sent audition videos to yg entertainment for 2 or 3 years every 3 months without stop showing her improvements..
    you can do it also…

    • JenArmas says:

Sory, I’m new here and CL is from JYP before, then she continuosly sent audition vid. to YGE. for 2 – 3 year every 3 months w/out stop showing her improvemets…. CL is a verry strong woman!!! that’s y I love Her and 2ne1!!! like CL, becoming a Singer is her Dream that’s why, even its hard, keep on Fighting because this is all you ever wanted,…. right so everybody here just keep on fighting to ur Dreams,… make CL as a good example, that’s all,

kamsanghamnida <3 God Bless You All

Can they just write, one clear thing, DO THEY ACCEPT NON ASIANS. And Half of us will be sure about it. Damn it…

  153. What is required for a singer to send with the application form? I was reading through the comments and people were saying that YG wanted to see…

    1. a video of you singing a fairly new (2010-2011) song
    2. a video of you singing a ballad
3 a video of you dancing

I wanted to know if this is still true. And also, do I have to sing 1 song in Korean?

Thanks for answering my question in advance.
